You are struggling to navigate life now that you have a baby…

You don’t feel like yourself, your relationships aren’t the same, and all of the information out there is super overwhelming.

You speak with your friends and family, but that hasn’t been helpful. You look things up on the internet, but you just end up feeling guilty and like a bad mom. You think it’s time to speak to a therapist, but it’s hard to find the right fit. All of that can change.

Through our therapy sessions, you will feel supported, understood, and better able to navigate your new life with a baby.

When I became a mother in 2019, I realized that there is not nearly enough support out there for parents. That’s why I am so passionate about my work. My name is Vanessa Samson and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in New York.

I have experienced the ups and downs of parenting too.

After my daughter was born, I realized how impossible it is to do everything that is expected of mothers.

I realized that I don’t have to be perfect and that making mistakes have helped me grow.

Self care, perspective, and being able to let things go have all been key to making parenting and life feel more relaxing and intuitive for me.

I can help you get there too.

Why Seek Out Postpartum Support?

During the postpartum period, women often feel overwhelmed and have difficulties managing the fluctuations of emotions they are experiencing. This can lead to anxiety, depression, and other more severe mental health challenges. I will help you better understand the science behind what you are experiencing.

Why Work Together?

I specialize in parenting, early childhood mental health, perinatal mental health, relationships, trauma, and life transitions. I am also a postpartum doula trained by the Ayurvedic Institute of Vermont. I utilize both Western and Eastern schools of thought.

I go at your pace and always make sure that you feel safe and supported during our sessions. I work with clients from a variety of different backgrounds, cultures, and sexual orientations. I embrace the uniqueness of each individual and couple.

What clients say

“After a traumatic birth experience I knew I needed help in order to find the courage to have the second child my partner and I both wanted.

Vanessa was sympathetic, kind and completely understanding of what I had gone through. She listened to my story without judgement and had great advice when I needed it. I’m so grateful for her help.

When it came time for the birth of my second I went into it with confidence in myself and my doctors, and that would not have been possible without Vanessa.”
